The first thing we need to understand is that sadness and fear, along with other emotions, are completely natural and we should in no way feel ashamed of experiencing them. Now, let's define:

What is an emotion?

An intense reaction that our body experiences, either to real or imaginary events, that requires adaptation on the part of the individual

What is Fear?

Fear is nothing else but a response from our minds to what we consider either dangerous or unknown, our attention is 100% focused on whatever causes us this emotion and the organism gets ready to run away, to fight, or - in the worst case scenario - it paralyzes us.

When our mind realizes that we need to run away or fight, it produces and releases chemical substances into our body such as adrenaline that causes an increase in heart pressure, facilitates the entry of air into the lungs, pupil dilation, etc.

what do you think is the function of this emotion called fear?

Sadness

Sadness, on the other hand, manifests itself when we have lost something we value or go through an unfavorable event that leads us to pessimism.

I think it is important that when we feel sad we take time and analyze it; please allow me to this sad event in my life.

My dad went to heaven at 83 years of age. I was 30 years old. My first thought was to be strong for my mom so I kept my pain to myself and did what was necessary to make everything go well and then the reality hit, my dad would no longer be there when I got to his house. It was something very complicated and I was sad and even angry with God because I needed him, I was always going to need Federico Arteaga Silva.

But then I gave myself that opportunity to analyze it and I understood that it was the best for him, while in the hospital he told me these words: "I am not afraid of death, I am afraid of not being able to stand for myself" and unfortunately that was the situation he was already going through, he had broken his hip and they had not been able to operate on him because his blood pressure rose and fell apparently without control, and I realized that I was being selfish.

I know that he is much better now and that at some point we are going to see each other again.

Going back to the subject, sadness is often also considered a negative emotion, however it fulfills at least one function: It makes us distinguish what really matters to us and invites us to reflect.

To get out of a negative emotional block, it is vital to go back to the origin of the emotion that caused the stagnation. Commitment to action is a voluntary decision.
